The Center for Animal Functional Genomics is a microarray core facility of the Animal Science Department at Michigan State University. The resources available at the CAFG include a wide variety of equipment and instrumentation necessary for library construction, printing, hybridization, scanning and analysis of microarrays. The resources include microarrays that are available for a cost-recovery rate: National Bovine Functional Genomics Consortium (NBFGC) cDNA microarray. 18,260 EST clones from the MARC/BARC libraries, spotted singly on the array. This microarray also contains GAPDH, RPL19 and Beta Actin as controls. This microarray is available from the CAFG for $100/slide. Bovine Long Oligo (BLO). Contains over 8,000 unique, 70-mer oligos representing predicted bovine mRNAs, spotted in duplicate on the array. This long oligo set includes ten bovine control genes and ten Stratagene Alien Genes spotted multiple times on the array. This microarray is available from the CAFG for $75/slide. (More information) Porcine Long Oligo (PiLO). Contains 13,297 unique, 70-mer oligos representing ESTs and predicted porcine mRNAs, spotted singly on the array. There are eleven porcine positive controls, plus eleven alien controls. This microarray is available from the CAFG for $75/slide. (More information) Porcine Brain Library (PBL) cDNA microarray for neurological studies. This microarray consists of 877 unique porcine brain EST amplicons spotted in triplicate. Beta Actin and GAPDH are spotted multiple times as controls. This microarray is available from the CAFG for $100/slide. Bovine Mammary (BMAM) cDNA microarray enhanced for mammary-specific transcripts. This microarray consists of 1,100 ESTs from BARC mammary clones spotted in triplicate. GAPDH, Beta Actin as well as negative controls are spotted on the array. This microarray is available from the CAFG for $100/slide. The CAFG has also developed microarrays for other animal species, including canine, rainbow trout, and zebra finch. Please contact us for more information about these arrays or if you are interested in creating your own custom platform. |
